MYSTERY AND REVELATION

"Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly." (Ephesians 3:2‭-‬3 NIV) Mystery It will interest you to know that God has made known to us his greatest secret that is relevant for our salvation. What is mystery? Mystery, from the Greek mustērion means a hidden plan, a hidden agenda, a hidden purpose, that which is unknown, a deep secret, etc. It refers to something or someone totally unheard of, inconceivable, imperceptible, and incomprehensible. Do aliens exist? This is a mystery. We have no revelation or fact about aliens in our world. Do angels exist? Surely they do. We have revelation concerning angels, and well-meaning Christians have testified about their encounter with angels. Now Paul is here saying that Christ was God's secret plan for the world. It had been in God's mind to bring Christ down to earth to save humanity from per...

FRAGMENT OF THE ROCK

"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matthew 16:18 NIV) Jesus and his disciples were now in the region of Caesarea Philippi. There, he asked his disciples, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" “Some say you are John the Baptist; others say you are Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets”, they replied. The responses that they gave were hearsays from people, so Jesus further asked them, "What about you? Who do you say that I am?" After a period of silence, the Holy Spirit ruptured the lips of Simon and he spoke, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." "This is not your own word, Simon! My Father who is in heaven has given you this revelation from heaven. Praise be to his name! From today I name you Peter [meaning rock], and upon this rock [that my Father has revealed to you from heaven], I will build my own church, and the...

RICHES OF THE ROCK: FUNDAMENTAL PURPOSE OF CHURCH RESOURCES

It was the day of Pentecost. About 120 people including relatives and friends of Jesus Christ gathered together in an upstairs room in the city of Jerusalem. Suddenly they saw what looked like tongues of fire which spread out and touched each of them. Then they began to speak different kinds of strange languages. They were spiritual utterances given to them by the Holy Spirit. "Alas! The Holy Spirit has come!" He had just descended from heaven to fill each of the persons there in the upstairs room.  People downstairs and all around the building heard them speak in their own native languages, meanwhile, those speaking were from Galilee in Northern Israel. Their bizarre spiritual utterances went so viral that it drew the entire community to the premises where they were gathered together and feasting in the Spirit. The eminent Apostle Peter was once timid, but after the baptism and infilling of the Holy Spirit, he was filled with boldness to address the large crowd. No human adv...

PRAYING WITH THE PRAYER SHAWL

"See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ." (Colossians 2:8 NIV) I have personally come across Christians who have interest in praying with the prayer shawl, but I have always wondered whether or not they truly understand the purpose and the rules regarding the use of the prayer shawl by the Jews. Praying with the prayer shawl is a Jewish tradition. Christians who visit the "holy land" for various reasons usually come back with Jewish regalia and display them in their homes and church auditoriums. Perhaps, they think that such regalia add some value to their spirituality, but unfortunately, it does not. Not having them or not using them does not suck any virtue from your spirituality.  Why people pray with the prayer shawl It is believed that the prayer shawl... 1. Connects you to God faster and more intimately (wrapped in t...

TRICKS OF GOSPEL PEDDLERS

The church is becoming a gospel market. People enter churches either to buy anointed products from a preacher or to help a preacher to sell his (her) anointed products.   There are two categories of members in churches that peddle the gospel for profit. There are those who purchase the preacher's anointed products and those who assist the preacher to sell his (her) anointed products. The latter are the church workers. Anointed products sold in church include food items like 'Sobolo' (Bissap); cosmetic products like 'abeyifuor nku' (cream that scares off witches and wizards), back-to-sender and favour oil; clothing items like handkerchief, prayer shawl and prayer mantle among others. Some preachers even sell their old suits which they claim carry extreme unction for teaching, healing and deliverance, not forgetting their sermon tapes and sermon videos.  In a growing number of today's churches, either you are in to buy or to sell anointed products. This situation ...
