CHRIST IN YOU: THE ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL GLORY (I)

Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!(Colossians 1:27 TPT)

Christ lives in you with the complete fulness of God. His glory overflows within you, filling people and places with the riches of his glory, namely, love, peace, righteousness and joy among other eternal possessions.

If Christ be in you, your life is filled with perfect happiness, because he floods you with expectation of glory. Thus, you do not despair of life. This mystery of Christ embedded within you, in other words, richly formed in you, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for God's people. God wants you to be fully aware of this verity!

Hope

Hope as used in Colossians 1:27, translates the Greek word "elpis". Elpis derives from the root "elpo" which means to anticipate or to expect. In the negative sense, "elpis" means expectation of evil, that is, fear, and in the positive sense, "elpis" means expectation of good, that is, hope. Ultimately in the Christian sense, "elpis" refers to the joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation, or again, the joyful and confident anticipation of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The New Testament refers to this glorious anticipation as the blessed hope.

While we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13 NIV).

Assurance

Assurance means certainty, in the sense of having been fully realised through the eyes of faith.

The writer to the Hebrews said, "Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true (Hebrews 6:11 NLT).

When you are certain that what you joyfully and confidently anticipate has been fully realised through the eyes of faith, it becomes an assurance.

So then, the coming of God's glory into man is not an expectation but an assurance, because this mystery has been fully realised through Christ coming to dwell in you, and we know and are assured of this through faith. God said it, and so we believe, that Christ dwells in our hearts in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Christ having come to dwell in your heart is the mysterious glory that God spoke about, which was joyfully and confidently anticipated by all. Now this mystery has been fully realised. Glory to God!

Christ in you is the expected glory in man. At the same time, Christ in you is the assurance that every glorious outcome that you joyfully and confidently expect in life will come true if you persistently trust him. When this mystery gets embedded within you, in other words, richly formed in you, it becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for God's people.

Today, God does not have to swear by himself in order for you to have assurance that you will be a great and a wealthy person. Christ in you is the assurance that whatever you believe is possible, better still, whatever you receive is inevitable. Have you received the good news of divine health and divine wealth? If you have, then you are assured by virtue of Christ in you, that they will come true for you if you persistently trust him.

When this mystery of Christ gets embedded within you, in other words, richly formed in you, you will not be able to despair of life. Fear will never have a place within you. Christ in you fills you with all spiritual assurances.
