SPIRITUAL MATURITY: GROWING UP IN RIGHT DOING

Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness (Hebrews 5:13 NIV).  The babe in Christ Peter speaks through the Spirit and says, "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation (1 Peter 2:2 NIV). Pure spiritual milk is served to new converts. They are like newborn babies. They are too tender to be given bones to chew. What kind of teachings constitute 'pure spiritual milk'? They are what scripture calls, 'foundation of the doctrine of Christ (Hebrews 6:1).  When someone comes into union with Christ afresh, they are like a seed that is germinating in a soil. It takes time for it to develop roots, stem, leaves, crown and fruits. They are like a newborn baby. It has no teeth to chew bone. So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:17‭-‬19 NIV). Love is by far the greatest indicator of Christian spirituality. That said, what is spirituality? The term 'spirituality' is not used by only Christians. Every religion has its own form of spirituality and its own indicators of spirituality. For instance, there are people who hear the voices of ghosts. They speak with them and ask them for help. They are called necromancers. They also think that they are spiritual. So when it comes to spirituality, the Christian's knowledge and understanding of it is based on the revelations of the Bible. SPIRITUAL MATURITY: GROWING UP IN FAITH

But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20 NIV). Faith is the foundation for Christian spirituality. Take Christian spirituality to be a building. The foundation is the most important part of a building. If the foundation is weak, the whole building is weak and will come crushing down.  The Holy Spirit, from this text, teaches you to build up on your most holy faith. What does this statement mean? Firstly, it means that faith is holy. Faith is not mundane, not ordinary, not common, not of human origin. It is sacred, supernatural, divine, issuing directly from God to the new man. Faith pertains to the new life. Except a man is born of the Spirit and of water, they do not possess faith, in fact, they cannot. Faith is not genetic, passing through the DNA of a parent to their offspring. SPIRITUAL MATURITY: GROWING UP INTO CHRIST

Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13 NIV).  Christian spirituality is like a journey. It has a start point and a finish point. All of us start from being born again. We are expected to finish at attaining to the whole measure of the fulness of Christ.  Apostle Peter sets forth the series on Christian spirituality when he says, "Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation (1 Peter 2:2 NIV).  The moment you get born again, you are like a fresh baby in the realm of the spirit. Inspite of your physical stature, you are an infant in the divine nature and spiritual life. You must grow up in wisdom as you do in stature. CHRIST IN YOU: THE ASSURANCE OF ETERNAL GLORY (II)

Spiritual Assurances I’ve written this letter to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you will be assured and know without a doubt that you have eternal life (1 John 5:13 TPT). Christ in you does not merely answer to your expectations, but also, fills you with assurances. By virtue of Christ in you, you have all spiritual assurances.  Assurance of forgiveness of sin If you have received Christ, then your sins—past, present and future—are forgiven. Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38 NIV).  Assurance of justification If Christ be in you, then you stand justified in every spiritual trial. This means that you are not condemnable now or ever throughout all eternities.  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1 NIV).
